Stirling Family Support Service was the first service in Stirling to offer support to families affected by drug and alcohol misuse.

In 1999 when first established in by a group of mother that were devastated by their sons heroin use, our mission was to "develop a telephone helpline that would offer a listening ear for anyone affected by someone else’s substance misuse, and to make sure every family that needed help would receive it”  We firmly believe we have grown since then and  Today - we don't just provide a telephone helpline, we believe we enhance the lives of all individuals affected by a family member, friend or partner’s substance misuse through the provision of a dedicated programme of support, including information and advice, counselling, peer support, and complimentary therapies” 

Feedback from the mother of a heroin user:

“ I am so very greatful to have had such a helpful person on the other end of the phone to talk to about my son and in particular the distressing events over the past years or so.  The peace of mind and support family support service has given me has been wonderful”.
